Antoa takes centre stage at KMA elections

The search for a presiding member for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has turned into a spiritual battle as members invoke curses on others.

Some members of the Assembly on Monday descended on immediate past Presiding Member, Nana Kofi Senya, who is seeking re-election and a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group with bottles of schnapps and eggs to invoke Antoa deity on them.

They are giving them 48 hours to reverse a curse they invoked on assembly members who voted in the recent presiding member election or be dealt with.
Two candidates vying for the KMA Presiding position, Nana Kofi Senya an NPP and the Adumhene, Nana Barfour Agyei Kesse, have on three occasions failed to make the required 98 votes to win the seat.

A pro-NPP group led by one Emmanuel Boadi, believed to be aligned with Nana Senya invoked the spirit of Antoa deity on members at the NPP regional office.

They accused the assembly members of taking bribe to vote against Nana Senya who is seen to be representing the interest of the NPP.

The curse agents said they do not understand why the Adumhene who is a government appointee will poll majority votes over Nana Senya despite 87 assembly members being known NPP members.

The action according some assembly members has accounted for the difficulty in electing a presiding member.

Meanwhile, Assembly member for Kuwait Aprabon Electoral Area, Elliot Fosu Bannor as a counter-attack has also invoked the wrath of five deities on the pro-NPP group.

He said they are just seeking the supreme interest of the Ashanti region thus the deities to deal ruthless with anyone or group of persons trying to scuttle the elections.
