A 20-year-old lady is in the grips of the police for dumping her two-year-old baby boy in a bush at Yeji in the Pru district of the Brong Ahafo region.
Her action is because her baby is deaf, dump and has not been able to walk like his elder brother and other children in the area.
According to Yeji-based Live FM reporter, Daniel Tachie, the suspect during interrogation said her action was necessitated by the rejection by her family.
The lady who only gave her name as Naa indicated that after considering the problems she would face in nursing the child without having reliable source of income, she took the child to a nearby bush and dumped him there.
Naa added that, her major source of worry was how to take care of herself and two children after their father abandoned them due to her condition.
The lady who hails from Ningo but came to Yeji to look for greener pastures said she is tired of caring for the disable child.
“Im tired so I dumped him in the bush for a Good Samaritan to see him and care for him” she added.
A teary Naa pleaded with the police to let her go since she has regretted her actions.
Meanwhile, the Pru District Police Commander, DSP Abraham Bansah who confirmed the incident to
Adom News said questioned the sanity of Naa.
He stated that the police sent her to the psychiatric hospital for examination before prosecution.
But DSP Abraham Bansah said they have begun investigations in the bizarre incident.
