Man’s body retrieved three days after drowning at Mangoase

A 47-year old caretaker, Kojo Boadu’s body has been retrieved from the Volta Lake close to Mangoase near Atimpoku three days after he drowned.

The deceased’s wife, Adjoa Afriyie told Adom News that the incident occurred around 1:45 pm on Tuesday.

She said she was preparing food for him when a nurse came wanting to cross the lake from Akwamufie to Mangoase.
With the nurse in his canoe, the deceased paddled to Mangoase but drowned when returning to Akwamufie.

“The nurse was leaving for a meeting at Somanya but there was no other canoe around except my deceased husband’s. I suspect no one in this case. Our six children and I will miss him,” she said.
Adjoa Afriyie said the family immediately informed the Police and performed burial rites before laying him to rest at Akwamufie.

Meanwhile, one of his sons, Alex Yaw Martey said a few minutes to the tragic event, he and his deceased dad crossed the lake from Akwamufie to Mangoase.
“I was going to repair my motorbike at Atimpoku. Both of us paddled to Mangoase and he returned to Akwamufie. I still don’t believe this could happen,” a shocked Martey told this reporter.

The deceased was supposed to visit their 6th child, 11, who has been operated for hernia and now recuperating at Akosombo.
The family is still wondering how to break this sad news to the child.
