4 dead, 7 injured in robbery attack

Four people have died and seven others injured during an armed robbery attack at Karaga in the Northern region.

According to reports, four masked men attacked traders in a Tata bus with registration number ER 2188C on the Gushegu- Karaga road at about 10am Sunday morning.

The Karaga District Police Commander, ASP Emmanuel Botwey in an interview with Adom News said the robbers asked the traders to lie flat on the ground which they obliged.

But another cargo truck with registration number AS 9948-F who tried to escape the robbery attack veered off the road run over the passengers killing four instantly.

ASP Botwey said the deceased include a woman and three men but two have been identified by their relatives.

But the armed robbers wielding AK47 riffles he added escaped through the bush before the police arrived.

The District Commander noted that those injured are responding to treatment at the Karaga Government Hospital and the bodies of the deceased have been sent to the morgue.

ASP Emmanuel Botwey said the cargo truck driver has also escaped but have collected some bullets on the scene to aid in investigations.
