Opoku Nti, 5 others elected into GFA Executive Committee


Chief Executive Manager of Asante Kotoko FC, Samuel Opoku Nti has been elected onto the National Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

The man known as ‘Lord Zico’ during his playing days joins 5 other gentlemen from Premier league Clubs to represent them on the second highest decision making body of the GFA.

Mr. George Afriyie who is on the outgoing Executive Committee retained his seat after securing a joint highest number of votes at Tuesday’s EXCO elections held at the GFA Secretariat.
Mr. Afriyie secured 11 votes out of the 16 votes cast same number as Mr. Albert Commey and Delali Eric Senaye secured at the end of the voting.

Mr. Samuel Opoku Nti (Asante Kotoko ), Mr. Frank Nwokolo Nelson (Hearts of Oak) and Mr. Nab Benjamin Eyison (Sekondi Hasaacas) all secured 9 votes to make it into the next Executive Commitee.

Amongst those who failed to secure the required number of votes are Kudjo Fianoo (Ashantigold) who had (5) votes, Mr. Emmanuel Larbi Amoah (Medeama SC) with 4 votes and Frederick Acheampong (New Edubiase) with (6) votes.

Mr. Kofi Manu (BA United) also failed to make it into the final six after he secured 4 votes with Mr. Kingsley Osei Bonsu (Bechem United)also pulling 7 votes .

Before the voting process began at 9:30am, all aspirants outlined the ideas and strategies that they hope to bring on board if elected.
