Illegal miners feared dead through Galamsey(Viewer discretion is advised)

For readers understanding before we continue:
Galamsey is a local artisanal gold miner in Ghana, West Africa; such workers are known as orpailleurs in neighboring francophone nations. Galamseys are people who do gold mining independent of mining companies, digging small working (pits, tunnels and sluices) by hand.

Some 35 illegal miners have been trapped in a mine pit at Bonsawire near Asuoso in the Western Region.

Local residents and neigbours indicate the incident which occurred 4:30 am on Monday morning, has brought activities at the mine site to a standstill.

They said some persons have so far been rescued by the local folks with others still trapped in the mine pit located in the forest of Bonsawire.

The chances of survival of the remaining trapped illegal miners according to sources are minimal looking at the nature of the incident. About three hundred miners were said to be working on the site at the time of the incident.

The Police have arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control.
